I resumed driving today. I could have a couple of weeks ago, but my wife enjoys playing chauffeur and who am I to mess with something that works? But I've begun something called "cardio rehab" - which is a short way of saying "working out with a nurse as a trainer in the hospital gym 3x per week" and figured that I'd be doing this so often that I should probably let the wife off the hook. So I drove.

I've been reading that toilet paper is one of the things that quickly sells out in communities hit by the Covid-19 virus. After the workout, I decided to head over to Wal-mart and pick some up. I wound up buying six mega-packages of 24 toilet paper rolls - each package claiming to be the equivalent of 72 "normal" sized rolls. However many rolls it truly was, I can tell you that I had one heaping-shopping-cart full of toilet paper. On the way out, I went through the store's canned food aisle and wound up purchasing all the canned yams they had, too. That was just eleven cans. Not such a big deal.

The cashier didn't say a thing. She probably runs into odd purchases all the time. Before I got to the store exit, though, another customer approached me. "I'm sorry, sir." he said. I see that you're having a crappy day."

I was ready for him. I held up one of the eleven cans of yams so he could see it. "No," I replied. "It's going okay. But my wife asked me to pick up some canned yams for dinner. Yams give me the runs."
