Re: "New Hampshire is one of the nicest states."
States are big places and no one can ever say they've been everywhere, but I have at least set foot in every state except Alaska. Sometimes I didn't have a car, but when I did, I drove around as much as I could (I once went tornado chasing into Nebraska when I was working out of Denver), giving thought to what I wanted in retirement and how that state stacked up. New Hampshire was the eventual winner.

You'll laugh, but my second choice was quite different: Utah. Virginia was 5th or 6th, but I wouldn't rank it that high today. Given how the political environment has changed, New Hampshire might not be first anymore either - but it would still be near the top. It's a beautiful place with moderate prices, low taxes (except on property), friendly people and an unfortunately liberal but at least small government.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

New Hampshire is one of the nicest states. My father & my uncle bought a cottage up there in 1954. On the river in Pembroke. I think it cost them $700. We use to go up there in the summer when I was a kid. My uncle moved his family there in 1956 and built a nice house. I still have a lot of family there now.
