You know Trump wants to throw everybody out of the country. If [Trump] threw everybody out of the country, the price of food in this country would skyrocket. Who do you think is picking the crops and planting all over this country?" - Bernie Sanders

I'm so sick of this line of reasoning. Sanders argues that we need the illegals because they work cheap. Most liberals agree. What they're doing is justifying a form of SLAVE LABOR. Nobody in the United States should work for less than their labor is worth. (Or for more, either.)

By and large, things in the United States are appropriately priced. The free market usually assures that. Why should food be the one exception?

I'll just point out that this messed up argument is directly tied to another common liberal meme, that Americans wouldn't be willing to do the hard work of picking and planting crops. That might be true - because there's no money in it! If food sold for higher prices then farmers would stop going out of business and those who plant, tend and harvest crops would receive better pay. At that point, Americans would be willing to do the hard work. More would plant substantial family gardens, too. The additional exercise, quality food, time outdoors and self-sufficiency would be GOOD changes for our people.

And, yes, food prices would rise. So what?

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
