This is where a smaller portable generator comes in then with plenty of gasoline stored to spare.
Wrap those pipes with heat tape and plug in the heat tape to an outlet powered by the small generator. It does not take much wattagefor the heattape. That is what I would do iffen I wuz you .....

No, they're not exposed until they get inside my garage. The garage doesn't get as cold as the outdoors, but it does get cold. I think insulation could protect them for a couple or three days of subzero weather, but my concern is about what will happen in a lengthier power outage. Such things do happen. The 2012 derecho that hit us in Virginia cost us our power for a week (and we were more fortunate than many.) A major blizzard could have a similar result up here.
