I am one with a very bad spine in the Lower Lumbar (that's low back to the tail bone where they start at S 1,2,3
then going up the spine it starts at "L".
I have had two surgeries alrady and they are dangerous.
You could wake up without use of your leg, or be in even more excruciating pain that never stops.

My first surgery was performed by the Head of Three different Academic departments of Medicine at local universities and was Head of HIS clinic's staff.

He warned me, told me the risks, and I had to sign consent forms acknowledging I was advised of the risks and accepted them.

The procedure worked for about 3 years. Then the low back pain returned. I had a second surgery a couple years ago.
That removed a large cyst that had developed and was pressing hard agaibnst my sciatic nerve which shot burning, searing pain clear down my left leg to my ankle.

I literally could not stand up at the end.
While this surgeon was removing that cyst through MICRO surgery techniqu, he cleanedout MORE artritis ariound those bones and in between . He back cut several of them and basically chamfered them.

I left the hospital after I came to and was awake enough to stand walking out on my own. Pain was gone....

In th epast few months it has returned again but not the sciatic nerve pain. Just low lumbar (tailbone area up to belt line) constant steady arthritic pain in those same bunch of vertebra.

I use LIDOCAINE daily on that area with Meloxicam pills which are fairly cheap. The Lidocaine comes in either a rub in cream or a roll on liquid made by Salon Pas. It works. Trust me. It works. You will get some relief.

Dr Ferree told my wife he cannot repair anything else in there. I guess they canonly remove so much bone from those vertebrae or they become too weak to support the spinal column and weight of the body.

IF you have arthritic condition there, a chiropractor cannot help you. It is skeletal and it ain't going away by manipulations. It's the arthritic spurs that are nailing you pal...

Those need to be addressed. Sometimes it is a compressed disk and then the nerve gets pinched in between the disk and the bone underneath or above it...

Today they have adjustable spacers they can install in between and basically "JACK UP" the space between the disck and the bone above and below it, thus releiving the nerve from being compresed.

I have thought about asking Doc about this to see if this might be something that would help me.

YOU need to see a Orthopedic Back doctor. A Good one.

You Need an MRI done so they can SEE what that area looks like OR my frst surgeon did a reverse CT Scan so he could front and BACK of the spine. A normal CT scan only shows the opposite side. It showed nothing wrong. When he reversed that side, it showed exactly whatthe problem was that an MRI could not show either.

You have to look at something from all sides to see.

He was a brilliant doctor. He is retired now. I wish he wasn;t. My latest one was HIS student who has goneon andperfected even more some of his techniques.. That is why I trust him...

I feel your pain Nemo. I live withit as well and have just kept finding ways to alleviate some of it, not all of it.

The bottom vertebra that broke in half a couple years ago is haunting me. I cant function at all when it kicks in. My body functions get short wired. I am going to give chiros one more try. I havew 6 I am going to go talk to and see if THEY will listen to me. The last 2 didnt listen , give me the same treatment, and they didn't work.

When it goes out I can sit in my chair and twist like hell to the left and I hear a lil pop, just below my rib cage and I lay down for 15 minutes or so and I am fine. That is telling me it is those bones that go out. When they do its the most lower that gives me great pain. I am going to talk to them all and see if chiro is still an option for me, or its surgery time.

It just pizzes me off those chiro 2 years ago showed me my xrays and the lower was completely busted in half, and they still twisted me like a pretzel, then I came back 7 days later and asked for my xrays. VIOLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA The lower was completely healed. Them bastids photo shopped my xrays or showed me someone elses. I am going to get recent xrays this week and go from there. I cant live like this. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I know haaaaaaaaaaaaaa
