INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Electric car sharing service BlueIndy is leaving Indianapolis effective May 21, 2020.
The announcement made on the company's website said existing customers would receive additional information in their BlueIndy accounts.
A statement on the company's website under the FAQ section said the decision to leave Indianapolis was made because "the service did not reach the level of activity required to be economically viable."
Customers can terminate their subscriptions at any time with no penalties starting Dec. 20, 2019.
BlueIndy began in 2015, by taking dedicated parking spots around the city and installing charging stations. It had planned to have 500 vehicles in Indianapolis.
