Silva's Super Market, a South El Paso staple, is closing Dec. 31 after 101 years in business because the owners want to retire from the intensely competitive grocery business.
Silva's, located next to the Stanton Street international bridge, is the largest supermarket in the Downtown area.
"We're retiring. We decided it’s time. We don’t want to continue in the grocery business. There’s too much competition," said Robert Manzanares, 68, manager and co-owner of the family-owned store.

Realist - Everybody in America is soft, and hates conflict. The cure for this, both in politics and social life, is the same -- hardihood. Give them raw truth.
