Among the many "textbook" symptoms of aortic stenosis I have are problems while sleeping. Actually, they are problems I have while reclining, which leads to difficulty sleeping. Whichever arm is higher goes numb, my face starts feeling heavy on one side, my ears ring, my mouth, nose and eyes go dry.

This wakes me up, several times every night. I hardly ever sleep for more than three hours straight any more, though one of the medicines they put me on made an immediate difference with my arms and does make sleep easier.

The lack of deep sleep gets old, though. You don't appreciate how nice that feels until you go a few years without it. I'm really hoping that a new valve reverses some of this, but it could be that some of the symptoms aren't heart related. Oh well. Probably just three weeks until I should find out. I see the surgeon on the 12th and will, presumably, set a date.
