...as the boards senior member (as far as I know) I can tell ya that we don't want to have a feeding tube or any other horseshit connected to us. Ya stick a feeding tube in one end and a colostomy bag and a catheter on the exits and we are nothing more than the middleman in the turning food into poop process. Life is not something to be protected at all cost. When it is time, let us go. We will rise up on the wings of eagles, we shall run and not grow tired, we shall walk and not faint! Sounds better than a feeding tube to me.

Liberals are like a "Slinky". Totally useless, but somehow ya can't help but smile when you see one tumble down a flight of stairs!

Re: "It's a tough situation to be in having to decide how to end your father's life. It's a toll that is always on your mind and at same time I felt so bad for him yesterday as I knew he was in pain and hurting... and could do almost nothing for him..."
Three years after my father's stroke, he further deteriorated and had stopped eating. They told me his weight was down to 120 pounds. We had to make a decision on whether to just let him die or to implant a feeding tube. One brother voted against the surgery. The rest of us voted for it, so that's what was done. One or two mornings later, my sister showed up at the "care" facility (where they don't really care) and found him pale and moaning.

They rushed him to the hospital, but he bled to death. Somehow, the tube had been yanked. It was probably very painful, but I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. It might have been a blessing. Starving is a pretty terrible way to go.

You're right. Making these decisions about how a loved one is going to die is gut wrenching.
