GREENFIELD — Wilson’s, the region’s last remaining downtown department store, is closing with the retirement of company president Kevin J. O’Neil.
The liquidation sale begins on Black Friday, Nov. 29, at 9 a.m.
“After more than 38 years at Wilson’s, I have decided to retire. The time has come to enter a new phase of my life to enjoy more time with my wife and family,” O’Neil wrote. “As a result of my decision there will be a store closing sale and liquidation of all merchandise.”
In what was a blast from the past of downtown shopping Wilson’s features three floors of name-brand merchandise, spanning 20 departments, and boasted “a remarkable selection and low prices that would make you smile.” Customers could get housewares in the basement, a men’s suit on the first floor and a new hairdo upstairs in the salon.

Realist - Everybody in America is soft, and hates conflict. The cure for this, both in politics and social life, is the same -- hardihood. Give them raw truth.
