Hey y'all - I am still here lurking! Busy is now an understatement. SO - here is a small recap of this past month or so......
Some may recall I run Discers-4-Whiskers, an annual disc golf pet food fundraiser and we raised 9.775 pounds of pet food earlier this year at our 9th Annual event. Well back in late July I met and have become friends with someone who I will call the grandfather of disc golf Dr. George Sappenfield at an event I helped get going to raise toys for Ronald McDonald House. Anyhow I mentioned what I was doing and George, who just retired, said I should really apply my passion on a larger scale. SO on October 15th I filed to incorporate and in less than 24 hours the State approved the application. The next step was filing for 501(c)3 status which I did on 10/25. We received our determination letter on 11/15 and we were approved as a nonprofit on 11/6, a mere 8 days!! SO I now have a nonprofit set up with the goal of eventually helping disc golf clubs run annual disc golf pet food fundraisers aka a Discers-4-Whiskers event on a National basis! I hope to eventually monetize the efforts by attracting a National sponsor or many regional sponsors especially if we get 200+ events going per year. I read a book in the 80's by Marsha Sinetar, Do what you love and the money will follow, so this effort applies. WELL - let me add in the big twist! Back in May I was semi bored and applied to help again with the very important US Census. In June they offered me a position, Office Operations Supervisor or OOS and on 11/12 I started. Man what a fustercluck I have stepped into. Pure OJT and I am creating processes and procedure with things I had to quickly ramp up on, something I am still doing LOL.
So now I have a nonprofit that is going to need some effort to expand our events from MY event to 8 - 10 more in 2020 and the plan is National in 2021. PLUS a full time position, something I avoided for the past 12 or so years means a HUGE lifestyle change. I never realized how busy I was being semi-retired till last Friday evening. Tomorrow will complete my first full week on the job and I have had to adjust all of my ways of doing things the right way and trying to adapt and adjust to the Gubernment way of blatant inefficiency. Recruiting enumerators or census takers to apply for a PT job next year is the sole focus and they are slinging caca in 360 degrees to see how much might stick!!
On a positive note I DID get 5 varieties of garlic, about 320 plants, and all of my grey Griselle shallots planted this week so yea!! I still have about 300 more garlic or so to plant so I have that ecotherapy to look forward to, maybe over the next week or so. WISH I had it all planted as we have 1/2 of rain headed our way Saturday.
Okiedokie - that is where we are and I am still lurking just too damned much working LOL I sure hope things settle in and I am sure they will after I have been forged in the fire of OJT.
I am looking forward to next Thursday, gonna start working on my keto(ish) menu over the weekend. I think some lamb chops are going to be featured, that or maybe I will go exotic and add some wild game!
