One must 3 months before you turn age 65 sign up and apply for your medicare benefits and set up arrangements to pay the 135 dollars monthly in some manner.

We did oursm onthly through direct pay from our account at the bank. The alternative is paying 3 months at a time by mail....

If you do nothing and do not sign up for your benefit you will not automatically start receiving them.

Same is true with Social Security payments. 3 months ahead of whenever you want benefits to begin... You MUST sign up and have several forms of Identification as well.

It is not automatic. Its the gubmint after all.....

Stuff is only free if you are an illegal alien....

Did you elect to take your SS benefits "early," Cap'n - before your normal retirement age? That is typically when earnings can interfere with benefits. However, I thought once you turn 65 years of age, Medicare kicks in - period.
