Is it Carotid arteries that are plugged? Those are the main blood carriers to the brain from the back of the neck area to the base of the skull connection. It is common for these to get blockage due to plaque buildup and the typical fix is to insert stents to expand the artery and give ya new "pipe" for the blood to flow through.
He will also likely be put on a STATIN drug to reduce cholesterol and need something to work on the plaque build up because if it is built up in the carotid arteries it is likely liningthe walls of other arteries as well.
Nothing to mess around with.... I do hope the medical people fix him up quickly.
