Forget that. Are we even sure that the wings came from a golden hawk? More likely they fell off of a passing Boeing 737.

Foxes when they come across an abundance of food, rather than waste it, will bury it. This is usually called a cache. Opportunistic foxes may spend their nights raiding their families caches. A fox coming across a tortoise underground may see this as a cached supply of food and dig it up.
