Re: "I cannot explain HuLU 's being the only bottleneck for the streaming except that maybe it simply requires more throughput."
Like everything on the internet, communication from point A to point B is rarely direct. It usually goes through points C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, etc.

If you want some cheap entertainment and you're on a Windows device, click on the Start button, then type the following in the search field:

tracert atomicbobs.com

You might be surprised by all the hops a simple internet request sometimes goes through before reaching a destination. Any one of those hops can be a bottleneck by either being a slow system or having too many users / too much work.

Hulu works as well for me as Netflix does, but that doesn't mean it will work as well for you. For that matter, it doesn't even mean it will work as well for me tomorrow as it does today. Lastly, one Hulu (or Netflix) show can stream better than another Hulu (or Netflix) show simply because not all the videos are coming from the same physical box. I've even had Season One of a series come through just fine but Season Two come through badly digitized. Streaming video hosts are comprised of myriad networked or clustered systems. Any of those systems can be a clunker.
