Re: "I expect to buy another thousand books or so from her tomorrow or Sunday."The deal fell through. Rats. The lady says she doesn't have the time to box books right now what with having to care for a 'near invalid' but will keep me in mind if she puts them up for sale at a later date.

Might not ever happen, imo.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

If my book lady friend doesn't cancel like she did last week, I expect to buy another thousand books or so from her tomorrow or Sunday. That didn't stop me from going to a nearby library's book sale this morning. I picked up the usual assortment - some science fiction, some biographies including one of that dirtbag Abraham Lincoln (while gritting my teeth and thinking of you, micro!) and some educational.

My wife misled me with the four "2x4 project" books, telling me that they were filled with things to make out of 2x4s. That's not quite right. These are projects that can be undertaken using wood planed to standard sizes. In other words, I should be able to find what I need at the local hardware store. That makes them sound like easy projects. Trust me, they aren't, not for people with my limited skills. Many involve nicely routed, mitered or angled edges. I'm sure I'll make a lot of mistakes but enjoy giving them a whirl.

I bought a few more science fiction books than what are shown below, but the Jack Vance collection seemed like they'd make a nice picture, and I remember Zimbler saying that he liked Asimov so I threw that one into the frame as well.

Book prices ranged from fifty cents to two dollars.
