I'm starting a 'Home Cooking' thread. If you guys (NEMO) are interested in participating, add your recipes and/or photos (preferably as, or right after, you make your cuisine) and include the phrase 'Home Cooking' in the body of the post. Don't put it in the subject line since folks might reply, potentially creating a busy topic where the recipes get buried. I want them to be easy to find with a 'Search'.

This particular recipe is very easy and comes from the "Crock-Pot Slow Cooker Bible." I'm following it accurately except I'm making about 1.5 times what it specifies and the thighs are bone-in WITH skin since that's what I had on hand. Consequently, I've added almost double the chicken (4.8 lbs). I have no fresh thyme, so I'm going with dried - which, per the recipe, is fine.

I went to the store this morning to get some of the ingredients and was disgusted at the cost. $7.50 for 3 packages of mushrooms. $3.00 for one can of soup (Progresso, 18oz). $4.00 for two packages of frozen onions. $3.49 for the sour cream. And I already had the chicken - which WAS bought on sale - and the other ingredients. All totaled, around twenty five bucks.

Here I thought cooking at home was going to be cheap.

I've got a 6 quart crock pot and, at least at the start, it's jammed full. I expect it to boil down, but it's a good thing I didn't make even a little more than I did. Dinner in 7 hours.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
