A friend-of-a-friend was a consulting engineer with a multi-national, Fortune 100 defense contractor. He was a widower about 60 years of age. Anyway, he was doing a lot of work for the company in Paris ... Paris, France - not Paris, Texas ... and he met a French woman, over there, and they fell in love. At the time, the company was offering early retirement incentives, so he decided to retire and marry this French lady. She agreed to move to the States, and while they were thinking about where to retire, he took her to his BIG family reunion in South Dakota. She fell in love with the place (and his large, extended family) and she impulsively convinced him to retire there. They immediately bought a house and made plans to move there, as soon as possible.

I had two questions for my friend who was telling me this story:

1. When did this family reunion take place?

Answer: Summer - June or July

2. Did he forewarn her what the winters are like in South Dakota?!

Answer: With a BIG grin, he responded, "Nope."
