you have expressed my sentiments exactly. I do however have a nice smartphone. Not an expensive one. I use LG phones, and only a couple years old models when I upgrade or need to get another. I like them and they work well. The prices for a good LG phone a couple of models old are always good and I get them UNLOCKED and for use wth GSM frequencies.

I do not use Verizon or Sprint. Those are CDMA.

Hard to text with a flip phone. Sometiemes I Have need for some features on my phone.

Like you though, it is a TOOL, not an absolute necessity to survive and I do not play ANY games of any kind period. Except GOLF. And I havenot played a round in 2 years. Due to spine... That will soon change though...

I hit balls in my backyard the other day pain free. I have lost 30 pounds of FAT. I am still heavy but I am still cming down to close to my high school weight. Looking slimmer. Feeling better.

Smart phones - I hate the damn things. My wife and I use flip phones. The problem is ... the vast majority of Americans ... even the ones with smart phones in their cribs ... want their phone to constantly entertain them 24/7. That's what 5G is about - faster and better entertainment for the mesmerized masses. They are so glued to the damn things that they don't have a clue what is going on right around them and cannot perform basic communication with others. Before long, they're going to find a way to surgically implant them into their craniums.

You know what? For being so highly touted as the way to "be and stay connected" ... the abominable things have actually made society far more disconnected, in my humble opinion. Put the damn things down ... look up and notice what is going on around you ... enjoy the beauty around you (unless you unfortunately live on a Democrat Plantation) ... have worthwhile conversations with others ... think for yourself ... quit being a zombie before you get run over by a truck because you have your face buried in your phone. Quite being an addicted schmuck that is so dependent that you think the world is going to come to an end if you somehow lose your f@#king smart phone.
