This is a shame. I feel for the RESIDENTS there, the old Americans who need that care and cannot afford on their own to pay for it.
Nebraska's system is partly responsible. The management of this company is also responsible for NOT looking into the business management side of things much much sooner and realizing that the business model could not sustain these types of losses due to not enough money.
To answer the statement of we don't need no stinking nurses, I am unsure of who the blame is being laid on, but I suppose he would not be interested in the three brand new ones of these facilities that just recently opened up in my area and employs a whole lot of different care takers, nurses, aides (who perform MOST of the work) cleaning people, kitchen staff of various types, social services directors, and multiple business needed staff positions as well.
NONE of these people are not going to work for $30.00 per day as in the Nebraska case.
SO where is the problem????
The state's medicare allowance really SUCKS big time because the cleaning lady ain't gonna work for $30.00/day much less anyone else.
Nursing homes, assisted living facilities cost a lot of money monthly. My father is in one. ONE of his nurses recently just left there to go work at another brand new one because of the HOURS she was working.
I will miss her. THAT is mismanagement by the director of this particular senior care facility. Had she had reasonable hours she would still be there AND she was great.
Let's clear up ANOTHER non stated myth.
Nurses. The nurses that actually are there, and there are 4 aids for every nurse, Are NOT RN's.
they are predominantly LPN's ...
SO let's not get too carried away.. It is not uncommon to see places like these close their doors while MORE new ones are opening. It is a HUGE boom due to the Greatest Generation mostly filling these up and being followed by Boomers.
So you will see MANY more OPENING for business than closings. THAT is unusual.. NONE have closed in my general locale. MANY have expanded, built on, added on, and brand new ones are added monthly.....
Sorry for the people in that company's center.
BAD management and shame on Nebraska.
JUST to give you an idea of what it takes monetarily, and the one my father is in, is among the least expensive, though it is only two years old now and one of the nicest in greater cincinnati, he is in Assisted living, level 2 for $4400./month That is pure cash out of pocket..... Every month.
Level 3 adds another $175/month to that and the next step is full nursing care at TEN GRAND a month and we now are dealing with an RN.
I seriously gave some thought to opening up a nursing care facility because it will ALWAYS be full capacity.
The STATE of Ohio will pay medicare to take care of those places that will accept it but many just are private and do not.
There is no need for one of these to be losing money in buckets like the ones in Nebraska.
THAT is tragic. On many levels. However it is not caused by a shortage of jobs in Nursing......
sorry. Just a lot more background info needed on that one...
AND YES, we need nurses in various places. Actually, nationally and here in our area, there is a nursing shortage, at he hospitals... MORE JOBS than there are Nurses. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
Send any RN's from Nebraska here. They can all start immediately......
