Same here Ribit. Scared of my father growing up until I got bigger than him and probably a lot stronger but still respected my father. I had to walk away from some "friends" in High School who get a little too off the beaten path for me.

...sometimes it's the parents of the kid and sometimes it is the parents of the kids your kid is hanging out with. I can't begin to tell you the kinds of crap my "friends" tried to get me involved in and I would have probably gone along with except I didn't want to bring shame on my mother or piss off my father. I was scared to death of him. Found out later on in life that there was no reason to fear him other than for my own good and that sometimes "tough love" is the best kind.
