Good morning Micro and all,

I get the positivity of what you are saying regarding posting job gains or losses and the BLS Bureau of Labor Statistics produces a monthly report that I am sure you are aware of. Here is the latest report and it breaks down job creation or reduction by industry.

http://www.bls.gov/web/empsit/ceshighlights.pdf

The thing is those numbers reported by the BLS can be adjusted by as much as 120,000 per month, and are adjusted twice, so getting an accurate picture is nearly impossible. This one specific slide that is interactive graphs the monthly, final, revisions:

On the other hand job losses are obviously easier to actually pin the tail on the donkey, so to speak, and I agree 100% about business cycles, the ebb and flow of business and disruptive technologies.

The point about wages and inflation is most people make the same money now as they did 50+ years ago. Prior to 1973 there were tangible wage increases yet for the last 50+ years it has flat lined. WHY?

I agree that Trump, while he gets little credit, has improved the economy and I will vote for him again. However, I am concerned that this eCONomy as some of you like to spell it could easily blow up as another devaluation well beyond the 2% annual inflation is needed to try to get us out of the mess we allowed our elected representatives place us in. I foresee a financial jubilee and I think the next economic downturn is going to be UGLY!

Lastly I posted this before and while I don't think any of you have taken a serious look I still think the http://www.fairtax.org plan is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than theIRS and would prefer to pay taxes when I decide to spend the income I earned.

And I feel ya as it is currently 75 degrees and 89% humidity here already this morning. 95 will be the high for the day yet looks like a rainless front will move thru and drop us to 79 tomorrow.

On a positive note my HVAC system went well after a steep learning curve LOL. All in all, counting materials, paying two different HVAC installers and paying my electrician to wire the unit and the closet, looks like I have spent around $4,300 +/- . Not too shabby considering all of the $10K quotes I had. I insulated the Hades out of the closet and spent another $770 on that as I hate insulation. Sheetrock is upstairs $250 and I will get that hung over the weekend then finish the drywall, paint, molding and carpet and she will be finished. All in all this should all be well under $7,000 and indeed I am happy about that.

Have a GREAT DAY everyone. I wish, like we all did on September 12th 2001, that we could ALL come together simply as AMERICANS.

PEACE

Hi Hydro_gen !

The way I am reading the chart you kindly posted is that it is basing itslf on adjusted for inflation. So that inflation is actually eroding the gross incomes of people, which is does do buthas little to do with the fact that more people are working than before.

I know of multiple places here in our city where starting wage for non skilled labor is in excess of $14.00/hr. That seems to be normal. That is $29,000 / yr. Not bad for staring out with basic essentials. IF you put two people making that together ina houehold they would have around $58,000 per year gross income.

While there are people being layed off or their place is closing due to poor financial results perhaps as a result of very stiff competition or maybe there just enough demand for whatever they do anymore, or they serve a much smaller group than they once did, THIS has gone on like this for as long as I can remember. AND for the same reasons.

It just wasn't being trumpeted by some website whose goal is to cat a dark cloud over the reality that more people are employed than before and that they should be able to find another one because demand is so very strong from all types of employers looking for all kinds of skillsets.

We cannot control the wages. THAT is determined by the emplyers and they have to keep an eye on fellow emplyers who compete for the same employee or they will lose them . THAT is an ideal employees market... Awesome!

Anyone who has paid attention to labor statistics in the past several decades knows that every year you have businesses slowing down, letting peoople go, some goout of business entirely, and other new ones start up and hire people. There are seasonal layoffs and non seasonal layoffs. The ebb and flow has been continuous and is no worse today than it has been.

It is merely being spotlighted every single day and made out to be that it is very start of armegeddon and the world coming to an end. THIS President is at fault.

At least thatis what the resource for this info is really about. To cast a shadow of blame on Trump whenin fact, the lowest percentage of people out of work in a very long time is what the truth is.

If they want a job and had none, there are plenty to look at and begin at. The argument is not about wage stability over decades.

How about the JOBS GAINED get posted alongside those that were lost? I think that would be fair. Inoticed the source for the BAD NEWS never seems to have that.. I wonder why????

Anyway, you noted corrretly that inflationary trend has had an impact on real wages for well over several decades now. No problem at all understanding that.

A valid point. Nonetheless, p[eole are working again and getting paid and payingless in taxes so they KEEP MORE of the money than they had prior to this Presidency...

That's a good thing I think.

Hope you have a great evening tonight. It is over 92 degrees here and very high humidity. Really ugly outside...
