you misunderstand what the point of my comments was Nemo.

ANYONE who loses their gainful employment knows it is a staggering blow. Yes, that is true. And I have empathy for those who find themselves in this situation.

The reality is that there are ALWAYS going to be casualties in the business world. The very definition of a corporation would tell anyone that. The objective of a corporation is to continually grow....

That begs the question then if companies are supposed to continuiosly grow andf there is only so much buisiness to be had in any sector, how do they ALL stay in business or do not wind up altering or changing their product structure s and losing employees and sometimes gaining more dependingon whether your company is winning market share or on the losing end of it...

Then there is the issues of buying goods or services online versus going to stores. Then there is aother issue in some older companies making a productthat has stiff competition from newer equipped, more moder, less cost competitors that simply make huge inroads on their sales and then that older company winds up ultimately closing its doors and we read about the people who just lost their jobs.

It's funny how we don;t rad about all the people who found new employment... I wonder how those two numbers would compare??

THAT is what I was going on about.

I keep a stack of 20 dollar bills in my car console. WHY?
SO wjhen I am driving around and I see someone who needs a hand up and a little monetary boost I can hand them a little help for that day or few hours and have sompassion on those in need.

I do realize there are plenty of scams being run like that butthere are more that are not.

I feel deeply for anyone who has been so beaten down that they are out of necessity and usually need for their other family members to go ut in public and beg for help.

Think about how demeaning that is to them and how theyhave nothing left.

How blessed and fortunate we have been to not know that feeling of utter helplessness and dependency on the charity of other fellow countrymen.

My heart simply aches when I come across someone wo is in need like that. SO I do what I can do ...

Sometimes I will simply go with my wife to a grocery store and fill a couple of shopping carts with all kinds of food item, like canned goods and other basics and then go take them all to a shelter who needs things like this to help families who have nothing to eat....

The whole point I made is that for all the people who lost their jobs, there are an equla or grater number who found jobs in that same time period. So the economy is not as bad as layoffs and closures give the impression of. The employment numbers are telling and stunning but never reported on..

So why don't we look at BOTH as indicators? Companies would not be hiring and havinf shortages of people to hire if things were not doing well. You don't hire when your company is not growing... You know that...

So let's simply take into account some of the other really major numbers of other economic indicators.

Hoping that this explanation will give you a different understanding of what I am talking about...

My best to you,

micro....

It sounds like some here think these closures are not important, as long as THEIR 401k's keep rising.............

FREMONT — Atlas Industries Inc., a Sandusky County auto parts supplier that was founded during World War II and made a name producing crankshafts, on Friday permanently closed its manufacturing operations in Fremont and Tiffin.

About 100 workers in Fremont and another 60 in Tiffin in Seneca County are now without jobs. An automated switchboard said the business was closed for the day and company officials could not be reached for comment.

Beth Hannam, executive director of the Sandusky County Economic Development Corp., issued a statement indicating that her office was aware that the closure would occur Friday but that the company had been making attempts as late as a week ago to stave off the final decision. She said the move affects about 100 workers in the county.
