The owners of Red Wing Stoneware Co., the 146-year-old company whose products have become a Minnesota hallmark, say they're shutting down manufacturing and retail operations this fall.

The Pioneer Press has a report on the decision by Bruce and Irene Johnson, who this week announced on Facebook their plans to wind down operations at the venerable pottery manufacturer.

The husband-and-wife team have run Red Wing Stoneware for six years, stepping in to rescue the business when the previous owner planned to close it. They combined the Red Wing Stoneware business with a local retail shop and said business was good. But health issues are prompting them to think of moving out of state.

Realist - Everybody in America is soft, and hates conflict. The cure for this, both in politics and social life, is the same -- hardihood. Give them raw truth.
