...found out later on last night that when the panhandlers / homeless / whatever get arrested they are allowed to sign themselves out of jail on their own recognizance. According to the mayor, it isn't fair for rich people to be able to post a cash bond and get out of jail and for poor people to have to sit in jail.

Pardon me mz mayor, do we have a big problem with rich people following ya into stores and begging? Or is it perhaps that rich people are camping on the sidewalks and crapping in the streets.

We realize that you are behind a big thick wall and you have police protection, but those of us who have to live in the mess you have created, we are pissed.

Atlanta Trying to Catch Up!

...people in Atlanta trying to run businesses are complaining that "panhandlers" are getting out of hand. They have gone beyond harassing people on the street and are now following them into stores harassing them while they are trying to shop, eat, whatever. Customers are leaving, businesses are suffering. A meeting was called with the mayor (Keisha Lance Bottoms) and one of the business folks suggested that it might be a good idea to quit advertising all the benefits the city is providing for the "homeless unemployables". He had the odd idea that it might be attracting more of them and making the problem worse. The mayor, she say, that arresting the poor and homeless isn't the solution. She is discussing a "new" program to extend the cities outreach to them.

I predict Atlanta will be the San Francisco of the South in all areas of filth both moral and physical.

BTW: Do I need to tell ya that the mayor is a democrat???
