It's the vertical "wall" at the back of the boat where an outboard motor would typically be placed.

I know NOTHING about boats. I do know: front, rear,back, left side, right side, bottom, up.

Thank you. I suspected it was the rear but not quite positive. Who would name something that comprises the back end of the boat that connects one side to the other a "transom" ?

That is foreign language to me.. lol!!!!
