If I might chime in on the gun question... Very Happy

I suggest, first and foremost, finding a way to shoot a variety of them to see what fits your hand and what you like best. Many ranges offer rental guns - take advantage of that. Or, if you have a friend/family member who can go to the range with you and let you try a few different ones they have, even better.

As for what you want, it depends. For concealed carry, I have two I carry routinely - an mid-sized Springfield 1911 in .45, or for deep concealment, a Smith & Wesson Model 60LS revolver. When I travel, I go with the revolver - can't really wear the 45 when sitting for a long period of time, unless I carry openly (which I also do on occasion).

The big players in semi-automatics are Glock, Springfield, and Smith & Wesson. Glocks are super reliable, but terrible ergonomically (that's not just my opinion - I know die-hard Glockoholics who will tell you that, too). I personally prefer Springfields. I tell people I can hit a sheet of paper at 10 yards with a Glock 19 (9mm). I can hit a half-dollar at 10 yards with a Springfield XD-M in 9mm. It just fits my hands better.

Revolvers are a good choice, actually, even given slower reload time, etc. The original point-and-click interface. Cool I like both Smith & Wesson and Ruger - both make reliable, functional wheel guns.

Most FFL's loathe Bud's Gun Shop - they undercut the dealers all the time. The last place I worked actually wouldn't even accept transfers from them for that very reason. You should check with your son-in-law and see if he's willing to do it for you, first.

I agree with Ribit, though - love the feel of wood and steel. A lightweight gun will be super easy to carry all the time, but will kick like an angry mule on PCP when you try to shoot it. Won't do you much good it's easy to carry but impossible to shoot a target with it.

Good luck. I know the feeling completely. I rarely travel without one of my little friends on board. Just not safe for a gal on her own on the road anymore.

What is the point of rules that are not enforced?

I do not know about most of you, but I live in a state that tends to be 45/55 percent of Libs and conservatives.

This Hollywood leftwing nut job film maker has decided it was a great idea to take Hitlery Clintoon's nasty description of anyone who does not agree with her and label them as deplorable to make a movie about HUNTING DOWN conservatives and killing them like a sport.

What could possibly go wrong with sowing this kind of stuff to audiences of easily influenced teenagers or antifa members, or radical leftists of any stripe????

THIS WILL HAPPEN. Just like the open season on mass murders in schools has increased, this will also be taken up by the mentally immature, as well as unstable.

I now for the first time am genuinely concerned about civil war breaking out inorder to defend ourselves from stupid, viscious ideas such as this moview being planted in the heads of people who will actually believe it is normal and be okay to do....

SO now I am thinking it is time for me to actually have to have on my person anytime I go out ormy wife goes out to the mall or store somewhere, a defensive gun with a couple of spare clips that are ready to insert and fire as well.

NO CRAZED LEFT WING NUT is going to hunt me or her down and not get fired back at...

Have any of you given ANY thought to this film at all yet? It is being considered for release even as I write this...

A VERY DANGEROUS film that in my view will sway and influence the immature and the haters into planning things depicted in this.

WHY is this nut job film maker locked up for inciting murder through this movie?

ANYWAY, I would like for you to consider these events and the results of this horrible film and let's have some real discusson on it. THIS one scares me...

Hate to have to go around wearing a concealed carry weapon on me everytime I pole my head outside but it looks like it may come to that...

Thanks all,

micro.....
Ribs. S&W M&P or Glock? Sig Sauer, Springfield Armory??? Open to opinions. My son in law is a licensed FFA dealer... So I can get about anything at a great price although Bud's Gun shop does have a huge selection...
