Re: "did you and Miz De drive there in the Highlander? How do you guys like that vehicle after having it a tiny bit of time now?"
We didn't go to the President's Manchester rally. I didn't even know about it beforehand, but I did watch it over the internet.

However, we drove to the Manchester airport on Wednesday to retrieve our son. The answer to your question is... we love it. It's a very comfortable, quiet car that gets excellent mileage. My one complaint remains: It has cheap speakers, and those of us who care about such things quickly pick up on it. Music has a slightly muffled sound to it instead of the crispness I enjoy. I've partially mitigated the problem by moving the balance toward the rear. The back speakers are considerably better.

Today, we drove the car back to the dealer to have a 5-year hard undercoat applied. They spray on a plastic/wax sealant that hardens on all treated surfaces and protects against salt and rust. The sample of the undercoat that I saw was the thickness of a Monopoly gameboard, so it's THICK.

At $599, it isn't cheap. But salt is unavoidable and incredibly destructive. My pickup's rear fenders are starting to rust through. I don't want that happening to the new car.

I've called several shops to compare prices. They were all $799 to $999 for a similar treatment and require inspections and re-oiling every two years (which means $99 each time.) Toyota's 5-year, nothing-more-to-do treatment is a bargain by comparison.

Undercoating with straight oil has to be done annually. Shops were quoting between $100 and $189.

Today we're driving a Toyota Camry provided by the dealer for "free." We'll return it tomorrow though we just heard that our car will be ready in another hour.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

De

did you and Miz De drive there in the Highlander?

How do you guys like that vehicle after having it a tiny bit of time now?

It is a very well thought of vehicle and a great choice.

Best,
