micro,

Here is a link to the unit I am installing yet that is not the price I paid.
http://www.amgair.com/samsung-cac-multi-position-ahu-mini-split-24k-btu-ac024knzdch.html
The compressor is Inverter Driven Twin BLDC Rotary.

It is a heat pump split system yet we do not need any heat kits here in NC. The one thing stumping me right now is the installation calls for 14 AWG X 3 from the compressor to the indoor air handler (all on a 20 amp circuit) yet there are only 2 terminals (plus the ground) to connect to so hopefully we can figure that out today!

The house has central air downstairs with natural gas for heat in the winter and since I am increasing the old closet from a 4x4x8 to a 28 x main closet area (14 x 9.5 x 9) with storage of (14 x 5 x 7) behind the existing bathroom as the roof pitch is 14/12 and I have 32 inch knee walls.

And YES it is gratifying and satisfying when you can complete something. Saving $$ is indeed a plus and the $$ I will save on the HVAC will more than pay for the closet. Insulation should be later this week (I told my insulation friend no hurries) so after that I can start hanging some drywall - finish said drywall - paint and then have another friend install carpet.

FUN FUN FUN

SWEEEEEEEETTTT!!!!!!!!!!

Is the compressor a two stage or single stage?

That is a nice high SEER rating. Is it a pure central Air unit or is it a Heat pump ????

I have a heat pump. One thing I was told was that the newer Freon charged systems require larger ducts because they push more air volume. Don't know how true that is because I left mine alone it has worked extrememly well over the past couple seasons.

Example: MY home is entirely electric everything. No gas.

In the dead of a bone chilling winter, with our electric water heater , washer and dryer, Stove, and of course HEATPUMP with a very large KW resistance coil for backup, the average electric bill for us was under $165 for a month.
This summer in blazing heat and humidity here we are spending about $95.00 for electric. Very efficient...

GOOD LUCK with your very cool project. Sounds really nice and I suspect you should take a little gratification of doing the work yourself and saving money. Always a plus!!! Thumbs Up Propeller

Best to you,

micro...
