A little context would help.

Slavery in the traditional sense exists in significant numbers only in barbarian societies: North Korea, parts of Africa.

Slavery in other senses runs the gamut from a Chinese population "owned" by their government to whores "owned" by their pimps to American children "owned" by their parents. There are supposedly 60,000 slaves in the United States. Personally, I've never met one or known anyone who has met one.

In these latter cases, I'd say that rhetoric usually denies that the relationship constitutes enslavement.

So, please elaborate.
