A guy half a mile away dumped a huge load of wood chips on his land and put up a "Free" sign.

How did he transport his wood chips from where they originated TO the front of his house?

It would save a lot of time and $$$ if you asked him since maybe he has some kind of truck or machinery to help you out.

filling various feed bags I've retained. I've got eight of them, and they hold about 50 pounds apiece.

In NJ, they were sold in 40 pound bags, grrrr. When we initially laid them down around shrubs, we put them down very thick.

Yes, they do decompose, but you still have your basic layer there when Spring rolls around. We bought less bags the next year, and so forth.

They definitely looked nicer when they were brand new.

You stopped because of a little rain/heavy thunderstorms??

What a sissy.

A nice sissy, and a hard worker, but a SISSY nonetheless.

Hey, have the neighbor ladies help you out and if it rains, you can have a wet tee-shirt contest.

Mz DE can be the judge.

Re: "At 2 pm there, shouldn't you be planting something?"
In fact, I've been pretty busy. A guy half a mile away dumped a huge load of wood chips on his land and put up a "Free" sign. These days, I'm all about "free."

Unfortunately, since my truck shell isn't easily removed, the only way I've got to haul them here is by filling various feed bags I've retained. I've got eight of them, and they hold about 50 pounds apiece.

I've now done four runs and was forced to stop when heavy thunderstorms rolled in.
