Re: "What type of wood are they and secondly, won;t they just rot through the winter snows and simmer and fall rains????"
Beats me what type of wood it is... probably a combination of deciduous and evergreen since that's what we've got in our forests. I never gave it any thought. I don't think wood chips will rot as quickly as mulch, but we'll see. If they do, I'm out a hundred bucks worth of plastic. That's it since the chips themselves don't cost anything.

On the other hand, their only real function is to keep the 6 mil black plastic sheeting down so that the grass won't grow. Even rotted, they can do that.

so, ummmmmm, allow me to be the first with the dumb question....

The wood chips. What type of wood are they and secondly, won;t they just rot through the winter snows and simmer and fall rains????

Am a tad confused De... I get it that wood chips are free and you are making some basic walking paths, like sidewalks, to get around. ARE you covering them with some weatherproof barrier like the plastic?

Jes trying to iure it out... The grounds look gorgeous there De. You have been hard at work and it shows...

I would be in serious spinal traction had I started on that..
