What would you recommend I coat the barn's second floor with? It's 1,800 sq ft of ordinary floorboard right now. I'm not planning on putting down tile or carpet since that'd be overkill for a barn. No linoleum either since there will be wild temperature swings. (Probably no heat or AC. Just fans on occasion.) There could be expansion and contraction, and I don't think linoleum glue would hold up. Do you think I should just paint it? Or would some sort of sealant be appropriate? The floor will get regular foot traffic and movers' dollies rolled over it. It might have sawdust if I ever decide to do woodworking inside, so I assume I'll need to be sweeping and vacuuming it every so often. Some sort of rubberized coating would be really nice IF it is durable when being walked on. There probably won't be any farm animals inside, but there could be grain or hay, and definitely some mud from outside (so things that have the potential to be messy.) Rodents, of course, are inevitable. I intend to always have some mouse poison in there.

I'm not going for beauty but to resist stains from whatever I might track in and to extend the floor's life.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
