Thanks DE,,,,,, The tree was a getting rotten doug fir........ and the reason I left was , work dried up, there was 2 contractors out there, the only time you saw their work crew,ALL ILLEGALS, couldn't speak English, no drivers license!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway those 2 outbid every other builder out there. Really sucked. I loved living on the island, except when I needed to come to the mainland for things, That was an ALL day ordeal. When I moved off the rock I was in hog heaven. Home depot was right down the street. LOL No waiting for the damn ferry. Summer time with all the tourist was the worst!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a wooded back yard in one of the Virginia houses. There were two close calls that convinced me that I didn't ever want to live in the woods again. One storm snapped a huge tree in our back yard and it knocked down two others as it fell! We're just lucky that they weren't falling toward the house because they could have reached it easily.

A house on the same block was more or less totaled in that same storm when an oak tree in the front yard fell on it. (The "derecho" of 2012 was about the weirdest storm ever. It lasted less than half an hour but packed 85 mph winds and took out power for most of Fairfax county for a week.)

Pretty incredible photos, Nemo. I think that's the first time you've ever posted most of 'em!
