We go to garage sales because the "stuff" we so desperately need is too expensive otherwise. For instance, the seedling grow light we got for ten bucks is more like $70 on Amazon. The steel frame (what ribit naively calls a "soccer goal") that we got for free will probably save me 40 hours of work and would have cost hundreds... or maybe even a couple of thousand... of dollars. As for 'The Child's Story of the Negro' which I bought a week or so ago for roughly 12Â¢ (books were 20Â¢ per pound) . . . well, it's required reading for black people. I gotta admit that this didn't hurt either:
