Re: "What a SUCK DAY."
Sorry about your sucky day yesterday, Nemo. Have you discovered what's wrong with the car yet? And how is your friend's hand? 46 stitches is hard for me to even comprehend on something as small as a hand. He must've ripped it all to hell.

I had a pretty good day yesterday. My wife and I went to a big rummage sale at a local fairground. While there, I found a booth with quite a few uninteresting things but also about 75 paperback books. I asked if they had science fiction, then found that they had quite a bit. I wound up buying 23 books. When the woman behind the counter found that I was buying so many, she threw in all of the science-fiction magazines that she had. There were a bunch of 'Analogs' and 'The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction's. After the purchase, we chatted Science Fiction a little bit and she told me that she used to own a science fiction bookstore that is now closed, and that she had 100,000 books. She asked if I might be interested in more, and I said that I would be. She said "What would you be interested in?" I paused, and then said "Quantity." That seemed to surprise her, but her "husband" jumped in and said, "We can do quantity."

I got her email address and may be buying a whole lot of books from the two of them in the near future. Today, I googled her to see what sort of bookstore she owned and found that she is a published author and is VERY highly regarded by notable figures in the science fiction world. One author says he looks to her for reading suggestions and that "she knows everything." I googled her hubby, and my jaw practically hit the floor. He is the author of a LOT of books, articles and stories, in the SF field and others, and has a lengthy Wikipedia resume. He's a retired professor holding a doctorate in theoretical biology from the University of Chicago - one of the best universities in the country. He taught at universities in Maine and Massachusetts. He was also the book reviewer for Analog magazine for THIRTY YEARS!!! At that point I began feeling a little woozy. This guy is amazing. I feel like I just met Asimov. And, no wonder he has a lot of SF books. I'm sure every publisher in the country was sending him free books for 30 years in the hope that he would give them a positive review.

I had friends who were science-fiction authors (John Wright remains well known.) When I talk to these two again I'll have to see if we have common acquaintances.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

Guy came and picked up the car this morning. he called 3 hours later and said it over heated and shot all the coolant all over the place. I took my trailer and went down into crazy town picked it up, gave him his $4550 back, that was hard. Came home tried to recreate what he said and YUP I got it shooting coolant also. I drove over 200 miles around here and never got hot. Not sure yet WTF happened, Have to do some searching..

Called my friend to come get me, he didn't answer his phone. I had to drive till it got hot then stopped and let it cool off for 30 minutes, then take off again. It took 4 stops to get her home. Just as I pulled in my friend called he just got out of the hospital. He was up on a ladder and it slipped sideways, like mine did and when he fell he caught his hand on a hook in the bird feeder pole on the way down and ripped his hand wide open, 46 stitches to put him back together. Tomorrow get here fast I am writing this day off......
