...abortion is one of those things that folks are never going to agree on, and the more they talk about it the further apart they get. A guy I know from work was one of the most ardent opponents to abortion ya ever heard of til his daughter became pregnant buy a black dude. He then made an "exception" to his rule.

I'm in agreement with ribit that there are certain things on which compromise is impossible for people of principle. If you compromise on your most fundamental values, you are without principle.

Your "easy" solution was to permit continued murder. Don't you understand that what you came up with is, like what I came up with, no compromise at all? The chief difference is that I knew what I was proposing was absurd. You need to have a similar epiphany about your solution.
