CHICOPEE — After 43 years running a garage, Paul A. Teta is closing up shop at Teta’s Automotive on June 14.
He'll retire from fixing cars, a trade he started practicing when he was still in high school.
"I also did black-and-white televisions and bicycles back then," he said. "That's how I made my pocket money."
Largely self-taught, he opened on Liberty Street in Springfield in 1976, outgrew that spot, and moved to the Glenwood Circle on the Springfield line six years later.
Surrounding businesses have come and gone, but Teta and longtime employee Dirk Bohn were familiar faces for decades.
"We're going to miss this neighborhood, it's going to be so difficult for us," Teta said. "We've been integrated for so many years here."

Realist - Everybody in America is soft, and hates conflict. The cure for this, both in politics and social life, is the same -- hardihood. Give them raw truth.
