...the pendelum of compromise swings from left to right and there is no room left for compromise. For example: One group believes all abortions should be banned, another group believes that abortion on demand should be available to all. Where can they compromise on the issue without compromising on their principles.

There's not a lot of room for compromise here. The thieves aren't going to stop stealing and the victims aren't going to gain some sudden new appreciation for what's being done to them.
