A High School Graduation
I went to my oldest Grandson's high school graduation this morning. There were the usual speeches, the usual platitudes, the usual recognitions of teachers and officials. The things we would all like to avoid at a high school graduation. Then they started giving special recognition to students. They recognized students who had received academic scholarships. The crowd applauded. Then they recognized those who had received 'atheletic' scholarships and once again the crowd applauded. They recognized a few more groups and got the appropriate response. Last they recognized the students who were going into the military right out of high school. There were about 30 in a class of 300. The crowd applauded. Then the crowd got to it's feet and applauded louder, then they started stomping their feet on the bleacher seats making that roaring sound ya sometimes hear at basketball games. And they started cheering aloud. It was a full five minute standing ovation for these folks. Made my heart feel good to know that when we are gone that there will be some folks left to take over the reigns.
Damned fine memorial day week end if ya asks me.

Liberals are like a "Slinky". Totally useless, but somehow ya can't help but smile when you see one tumble down a flight of stairs!
