Re: "You sure are having fun in your retirementI always knew I would. I never understood these people who retire and then get bored. I'm anything but bored. I've got way too much going on now. Life was boring *before* retirement.

The only thing I'm short of now is friends. I invited the guy who gave us the wood panels to hunt on Property #2 this year. He's very interested and offered to give us venison if he gets anything. Maybe I'll get to know him... who knows?

On Friday, I stopped at a hardware store to pick up lag bolts and other things I'll need for the first shed's base. Adjacent to it, in a field, a woman was running a huge yard sale filled with a ton of things that were mostly still in their packages. There were tons of DVDs, cookbooks, Christmas items (sparkly pine cones in burlap bags), can openers, etc. I asked her if she'd been running a store and was selling her inventory. She said "No. Actually, I raid dumpsters outside of department stores. I've learned when they throw things out every couple of weeks." I told her that I'd done something like that myself, when I was in college, with the Computer Center dumpsters. I'd once found a working Apple II being tossed! She said, "It's a lot of fun. You know, I could really use a partner." I thought about it and declined. "Unfortunately, I've got too much clutter already." What was going on in my head though was, "Hey, maybe I've finally made a friend!" But she went and ruined it: "So, if you don't mind my asking, do you have a girlfriend?"

LOL. Someone once told me that opposite genders can NEVER just be friends. One of the two *always* wants more! Dammit.
