I would never advocate invading another country just because their peoples
lost a lot of weight.
Point number 2.
Iraq was a State sponsor of islamic terrorism. And I suspect saddam hussein
was the head instigator of 9-11. (Iraq was also in violation of a lot of U.N.
resolutions that it disarm.)
After Nine-Eleven the various terror mongers on this planet needed a serious
object lesson. Turning Afghanistan upside down was not a good object lesson -
any reasonably competent military machine could turn Afghanistan over. Turning
Iraq upside down and shaking it till saddam husseins mangy butt fell out was an
object lesson that would have the rest of the planet sit up and take notice.
The Congressional resolution authorizing the invasion of Iraq listed three
reasons for the invasion. 1.) WMD's. 2.) Human rights abuses. 3.) Support
for anti-American terrorists. Of these three, terrorism is the only one I
would vote to invade over.
