Realist - Everybody in America is soft, and hates conflict. The cure for this, both in politics and social life, is the same -- hardihood. Give them raw truth.

The age of rage: are we really living in angrier times?

http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2019/may/11/all-fired-up-are-we-really-living-angrier-times

...yes, we are angrier and that is because we are crowded closer together by population and more aware of what other people think because this is the "information age". There is no room for compromise between one group who believes in abortion on demand and a group who believes there should never be an abortion any time for any reason. There is also no room for compromise between a group that believes all guns should be confiscated from law abiding citizens immediately and a group that supports the second amendment. No room for compromise so ya get angry, then ya fight.
