http://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/75131/intel-core-i7-4900mq-processor-8m-cache-up-to-3-80-ghz.html

This is the processor from Intel's website. While you mentioned they sent you a I7 4810MQ , which is incorrect, the I7 4900 MQ unless it is running onturbo speed is not going to reach 3.8 Ghz speed. It's normal operating speed is 2.8 Ghz Because iti s hyperthreaded and comes with four cores, it processes at 8 cores whichis great.

Just take a look. If you can find something somewhere else that indicates that a genuine Intel Mobile I7 4900MQ is benchmarked at 3.8 Ghz as the standard operating speed I would love to see it..

Thanks De and good luck.

And No, your faith in humanity is not misplaced. Most will let you down and that should be no surprise to you.

Amazon's "Marketplace Vendor" (a company named MazeTech) said that it does have a system with the correct processor and can do an exchange. "Actually," they said, "the difference between the 4900MQ and the 4810MQ is very little. If you would like to keep the system you have, we will credit you $40." I replied, "No thanks. Please send the paperwork to do an exchange."

Sooo, that's where it stands. Now to see how it turns out. I'm half expecting the vendor to write back and say that it does NOT have a 4900MQ-equipped system in stock after all... but then I'm the suspicious sort.
