Amazon's "Marketplace Vendor" (a company named MazeTech) said that it does have a system with the correct processor and can do an exchange. "Actually," they said, "the difference between the 4900MQ and the 4810MQ is very little. If you would like to keep the system you have, we will credit you $40." I replied, "No thanks. Please send the paperwork to do an exchange."
`
Sooo, that's where it stands. Now to see how it turns out. I'm half expecting the vendor to write back and say that it does NOT have a 4900MQ-equipped system in stock after all... but then I'm the suspicious sort.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

My faith in humanity, which wasn't very strong to begin with, has just been dealt another blow. The SECOND refurbished laptop I've purchased from Amazon arrived and it has the same problem as the first: The wrong CPU.
`
The Amazon ad said this was a Dell M4800 workstation with an Intel Core i7-4900MQ 3.8Ghz CPU. The packing slip that arrived with the laptop says that it is a Dell M4800 laptop with an Intel Core i7-4900MQ 3.8Ghz CPU. The computer is indeed a Dell M4800 workstation... but Windows shows it to contain an Intel Core i7-4810MQ 3.8Ghz CPU.
`
^#$%@ @#%^& &*(&^$!!!!!!
`
The i7-4810MQ is worth about $190 less than the i7-4900MQ CPU.
`
I called Dell Refurbished because the laptop came with a flyer from Dell Refurbished saying "We want to hear from you!" The guy with the Indian accent who answered didn't want to hear from me. He said he couldn't even find the computer with the service number (the serial number) I gave him. He told me to just return the machine. Next, I called Dell. They listened and then tried to ask how they could help before I said "Hey, *I* am not the victim here. I'll get my money back. The victim is Dell, and Amazon, and all of Dell's customers who are getting scammed by what is obviously a widespread FRAUD. Should I call the police instead of you?" That seemed to get their attention. They advised me to return the unit to Amazon and said that Amazon will then notify them. LOL. Yeah, sure they will.
`
I still don't think they get it. *SOMEBODY* is refurbishing a large number of Dell laptops, removing the high end processor and replacing it with one that is worth a hundred and ninety dollars less. And they're probably doing it with thousands of Dell machines. Shouldn't Dell care?
`
Lastly, I e-mailed the Marketplace Vendor that sent me this laptop, explained what happened, included a screenshot proving that the laptop does not have the CPU that was advertised, and told them that this is the second one in a row sent to me this way. I asked in the e-mail if they have a Dell M4800 with the 4900MQ CPU, in which case I'd like to do an exchange. I'm now waiting to hear from them.
`
The most frustrating thing about this is my gut feeling that I'm sending these things back and the vendors are going to just sell them again to different customers. *MOST* people probably won't check to see if their laptop has the right CPU, after all. I hate that.
