Re: "Hey De, I got Tomatoes, Peppers, Basil, and eggplants already growing outside in my garden."
I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who's gardening! Hey - if you think you've got it good in Virginia, consider that in Sacramento I was harvesting tomatoes by the end of May.

What I'm doing in NH is a little different. First, I'm trying to find heirloom vegetables that I like, so I've got to look at a LOT of varieties. Second, I'm trying to grow from seed. Now, I should have started a long time ago, but it was just too cold. At some point, though, I'll have a real greenhouse or heated sunroom and should be able to start my seeds in February.

Today I planted:

o Early Jalapeno peppers, 24#.
o California Wonder peppers, 24#
oYellow Pear tomatoes, 24#
o Marglobe Improved tomatoes, 24#.

Including what I did yesterday, that's 168 seedlings that should be popping up in ten days or so. Within 30 days, I'll need to have them and a lot of other things in the ground or in larger flower pots. I can plant a lot of them today: Lettuce, radishes, corn, beans, cucumbers, carrots, potatoes, squash, melons... They don't need to be started in pots.
`
I'm running low on the bag of seed starter I bought. Today I learned how to mix my own at a quarter the cost. It seems that most of seed starter is peat moss, which is cheap.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months
