How else are we supposed to stop them? Meaning maybe we
ought to be allowed to have certain explosive materials and
fully automatic weapons.

Lasers are very useful tools. From laser levels to laser
surveying equipment to classroom pointers. Drones are also
potentially very useful tools. Can you think of a faster way
for a farmer to check his fields? Or a cattle rancher to
check on his herds?
