Love my desktop pc. Built it myself and I have a hard drive that is a secondary one that I ghost the operating drive onto so if the main one ever glitches, I simply put the backup one its place and continue like nothing ever happened.

That said, laptops are prone to dropping, cracking, breaking, don't take very well to being banged or bumped because everything inside is so crammed in there..

You do know you can can buy a flash drive large enough to hold your laptop hard drive contents and just use a GHOST program to copy your entire hard drive onto that USB thumb drive? Then you can simply boot to the thumb drive if you have to or your hard drive fails... You lost nothing then...

BTW, I started having problems with my laptop a few weeks ago. It slid off a counter and I caught it with my foot just before it hit the floor. Its edge actually smacked my shin pretty good and gave me a nasty cut. I'd have mentioned it here, but I was a little concerned about the flak I'd catch if you guys found out that I'd cut my leg by dropping something on it. *AHEM* Nemo come home! All is forgiven!
`
In the days that followed, my laptop abruptly shut down several times.
Each time, I found that the battery wasn't properly secured and had started falling out. It turns out that the battery has a very small nub on it that was cracked.
`
I didn't want to buy a new battery ($20) so I put the battery in and then duct taped over the side that was broken. It won't fall out again. Then I started having problems with system performance. I did a disk analysis and found damage.
`
I did numerous repairs and reinstalls and finally got the system to where it was working well. Until this morning, that is...
`
*sigh* Are computers really worth it? Sometimes I think not.
