What you have said is exactly what most men SHOULD say but rarely acknowledge. When all of the "people" in our daily lives are not very nice, mean, nasty, and you simply would like to tell them what you really think, you are exhausted to the bone but know you must keep on keeping on, a GREAT wife is always there to support you, and let you know that she will stand with you no matter what you decide to do..

THAT is the secret to strong men. Behind them is a loving and a steqadfast, strong, supportive wife.

I share your experiences and know them to be true. Only I worked seven days a week because it was my own corporation and I needed to put the time in on weekends to get done what I could not do the rest of the week.

This is one of the reasons I respect Nemo and admire what he is accomplishing in the face of adversity.

He didn't quit or give up though he became a casulaty of the building and construction trade so he moved. Then when he discovered there was a lack of work in those trades where he moved to, and yet he needed income, he figured out how to become an automotive flipper per se. He has become a pretty good mechanic, and a salesperson whether he knows it or not.

Hard work is what Ben Franklin prescribed for every person who wants to succeed.

Like you, if it had not been for my wife I do not know if I cold have kept up that torrid pace either.

I am glad that you acklnowledged that truth in your life and now have begun a new chaptyer in BOTH of your lives that you can live and share together instead of you being gone most of the time.

I wish you guys much success and happiness for your new beginnings and hope you enjoy every single moment.

This is what hard work and dedication should lead to. Unfortunately, there aren't many willing to sacrifice for the short term what it requires to enjoy the long term.

Congrats to you BOTH. It was and remains a TEAM effort as you aptly acknowledged......

It's been a year...

I moved to New Hampshire a year ago today. It's been a good year. But, as I told my wife, it still doesn't feel like I'm retired. It feels like, "Well, your two week vacation is over. Gotta go back to work tomorrow." And then I subconsciously cringe with dread. I'm looking forward to losing that feeling. I hope I will.
`
I read an article today about Jack Ma of China and the 12-hour-day, 6-day work week its technical firms don't require but do expect. (See link below). I can relate. In my busiest times, I worked 17 hour days for nearly 3 months, then dropped to "only" 14 hour days... SEVEN day work weeks. That went on from mid-January until my very first day off, July 4th. I once worked over 130 hours in a week. And I worked a 36 hour "day" that had me so dazed that I didn't even know what I was doing. Oddly enough, that was the time in my career that I most enjoyed. It felt worthwhile.
`
The time in Virginia, on the other hand, was miserable. I never liked what I was doing and, with the hours down to a normal work week, I lost a sense that what I was doing was important. I had bosses who ranged from indifferent to downright evil. I couldn't get out of there soon enough.
`
My goal this year is to put that behind me, to start phase 3 of my "career" and end it on a more satisfying note some years from now. Fingers crossed that it happens as planned. I have to say that I'm so happy and fortunate to have a wonderful, supportive wife who's willing to stick with me through it all... I love her to death and don't know where I'd be without her.
