I've got significant cash outlays coming at predictable points down the road, so I need to store money somewhere safe where, on the designated dates, I can pull it out again at a gain, not a loss. There's no such confidence with the stock market these days. I fear a 20 to 50% pullback. That kind of narrows my options down to CDs and savings accounts. Savings accounts pay next to nothing these days. So I'm buying CDs.

What is inflation going to be the next few years?

One thing I have noticed, is that inflation seems to
be eating the value of cash . . . outpacing what
banks will pay in interest . . . bonds do not seem to
have that 'growth in income' necessary to outpace
inflation.

Am I wrong? But I believe a well diversified portfolio
of conservative minded companies that like to increase
their dividends every year will give me the most likely
future happiness.

I've mentioned Dominion Resources - also known as Dominion
Energy. Ticker = D . The current dividend yield is 4.4%.
They pay out four times a year. And they have a direct stock
purchase plan.
